Q: How do I know if Westpac Travel Insurance may be right for me?

Westpac Travel Insurance is built for travellers with your travel plans in mind, so you can be sure you're protected wherever and whenever you need it. Westpac Travel Insurance is designed for recreational travel, and includes a 24 hour call centre for emergencies. All of our customers have access to our emergency assistance team that is available to help with a variety of emergencies at any time and in any place you may need it.

Benefits include cover for trip delays and missed travel connections, emergency medical and dental treatment and loss or damage to luggage and personal effects. Customers can select their own level of cover for cancellation costs and lost deposits for trips that may need to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances outside their control. Q: What do I do if all my luggage is delayed?

Unfortunately, your luggage sometimes arrives after you do. If this happens, Westpac Travel Insurance provides cover for the purchase of essential clothing and toiletries if your luggage is delayed or goes missing for more than 24 hours. Carefully read the Policy Wording document to check the limits of this cover. We'll require your receipts as a part of the claim process so please make sure you hold on to them.

Q: Why do I have to provide receipts when making a claim?

When submitting the claim form, we ask you to include all the necessary receipts and documentation that relate to your claim. This is a policy requirement and provides us with documentary evidence of purchase, in particular, details of costs incurred, purchase price, date of purchase, description/make/model of the items claimed etc.

Q: Can I get cover if I have an existing medical condition?

Most of the time, yes. Westpac Travel Insurance allows customers to apply for extra cover for certain pre-existing health conditions. Q: What types of things are not covered by Westpac Travel Insurance?

Westpac Travel Insurance offers cover for things ranging from missed travel connections to emergency dental treatment, however amongst other things, there are a few adventure travel activities that are not included, such as:

  • racing (other than on foot)
  • participation in sporting activities in a professional capacity
  • mountaineering
